How to uninstall Internet Explorer 8 from Windows XP, 7, and Vista when the remove option is shown in the control panel?

The first thing to do is to check the version of Windows you are using and to follow the instructions for the removal of IE8 on your computer. The following are steps to remove IE8 from Windows 7, Vista, and XP.

Steps for Windows XP



1) Click the start button.
2) Next click the control panel option on the right side of the start menu.
3) When the control panel open click on the Add or Remove Programs icon.
4) Look for Windows Internet Explorer 8 in the programs list.
5) Click the remove tab to the right of the program option to remove it.
6) Follow the the on screen instructions to remove IE8
7) Restart the computer to finalize the uninstall of IE8

Steps for Windows Vista


1) Close all programs
2) Click the start button then click control panel
3) Click Uninstall a Program under the Programs category
4) In the Tasks pane, click View installed updates.
5) In the list of installed updates, double-click Windows Internet Explorer 8.
6) In the Uninstall an update dialog box, click yes.
7) Follow the instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 8.
8) When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.


Steps for Windows 7


1) Close all programs.
2) Click Start button and then click Control Panel
3) Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
4) In the tasks pane, click Turn Windows features on or off.
5) In the list of windows features, clear the check box next to Internet Explorer 8.
6) You receive a warning message in a pop-up window. Click Yes.
7) Follow the instructions to uninstall Internet Explorer 8.
8)When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.


Note: Please remember to install a backup browser such as Firefox, or Google Chrome so you will be able to have internet access IE8 is not downgradable to its prior version and it is completely removed in Windows Vista, and Windows 7. For Windows XP the browser will be downgraded to it's prior version either IE6 or IE7 depending on the prior version of Internet Explorer software installed on the computer.
